USS Willamette (AO-180) On February 10, 1986, USS
Willamette rammed USS
Jason (AR-8), about 62 miles southwest of Pearl Harbor.
USS
Jason steamed across and through a formation centered around USS
Willamette, in an attempt to take up
a position in the formation astern of USS
Willamette. One crew member was killed and eight other USS
Jason crew
members were injured. The third photo in this set shows a new bow being fitted to USS
Willamette in April 1986.
